Our colleague, Chief Ty Dickerson of the Lexington FD, shared this document with me and I think you might also find it of particular interest. It speaks to a very real threat, which Mumbai and other international attack attest, that attacks on high rise targets, involving planned or incidental fires, can be both deadly and cause significant economic damage. The document also speaks to the necessary evolution of tactics involving fire and law enforcement resources as well a the critical need for joint training. My guess is that many big city fire and police departments are well along in their preparation for “vertical terrorism” but I wonder how many smaller departments around the country are planning and training together to be ready for terror/mass shooting attacks that would require responses from both.
Thanks Ty for sending this along.
