I recently came across this article in military.com which you may find of interest: “Facing Fitness Crisis, Army Leaders Look to Change Culture.”

It is a detailed look at what the Army, and I would presume the other military services, are facing with regard to the rather poor levels of physical fitness of the young Americans from age 17 to 24 whom they are targeting for recruitment. I’m not surprised by the results of the recent study done by The Citadel but it is interesting to note that 10 southern states have been specifically called out for being significantly less fit than recruits from other states. I was also unaware the Army is still using the same PT test that was developed in 1980. A new PT test that the Army is currently beta testing is also described in the article.

Best regards,

Rusty
