The “insider threat” continues to be the major threat to intellectual property of our private sector companies and to USG Agencies. Since the Snowden leaks the USG has added new emphasis (as if the problem originated with Snowden’s disclosures) to security procedures, particularly to reducing the number of clearances and additional layers of supervision and regulations. But little time spent on workforce training that would allow them to be more assistance in identifying troubled employees in crisis who are the most likely insiders to break bad. Its interesting to note as with traditional espionage and industrial espionage the major threat is still the trusted insider.
